Eurythmy in English
The Master of Arts programme Eurythmy in English is aimed at eurythmists who are looking for a next step in their career, who wish to extend their eurythmical skills, challenge themselves creatively and professionally, and deepen their knowledge and experience of research. There are two pathways, one in the education/social field, and the other in eurythmy therapy.
Master of Arts - Eurythmy Education/Social Art
Join other engaged eurythmy professionals working all over the world, expanding your own skills and building a network of creative exchange. You will meet experienced guest teachers who will share their research with you, guided by course carriers/mentors Shaina Stoehr, Coralee Frederickson and Magali Muller-Peddinghaus. Your eurythmy questions and practice are the subject of your research activity, and assignments are carried out in your own professional context.
The education pathway course will be an online course taking place over two years, with the last year devoted to your final research project and thesis. The next course will begin in March 2026.

Master of Arts - Eurythmy Therapy
Learn the professional and therapeutic skills needed to become a eurythmy therapist, in addition to developing research tools. This is a face-to-face course taking place at Emerson College in England, guided by course carriers/mentors Shaina Stoehr, Katherine Beaven and Brenda Newton.
The therapy pathway course will be a face-to-face two-year course consists of five four-week blocks with doctors and eurythmy therapists who are experts in their fields of practice, with the addition of two online weeks of lectures. In the final year, you will complete the required practice placement hours and submit your thesis, which will be a Case Study. The next course with the Focus Eurythmy Therapy will begin in August 2024.

Application Process and Requirements
Applicants of both programmes must have some relevant eurythmical practice, in addition to a Eurythmy diploma (recognized by the Section for Performing Arts, at the Goetheanum, Switzerland). Students should be able to master the English language at an appropriate level. The application process is completed online and there are guidance notes with details about the documentation you will need to submit.
Course Contents & Structure
Eurythmists will have the opportunity to specialize in one of the following areas, and the assignments and projects will be appropriate to each field:
- Eurythmy Therapy
- Eurythmy in Education
This Master’s program has the aim of deepening eurythmical capacities, fostering skills in the realm of education and art, and developing the ability to carry out qualitative research in the area of eurythmical activity that is relevant and inspiring to the student. Students will participate in Master Classes given by a range of highly experienced eurythmists, become proficient in qualitative research methods, develop writing and presentation skills, and participate in stimulating presentations from acknowledged experts in aspects of education and art.
Some core aspects of the course are:
- An individual approach to assignments with context-based projects
- Practical training and study for new teachers and advanced research for experienced teachers
- A focus on individual artistic development
- Encouragement to explore eurythmy in a contemporary context with an emphasis on the challenges and opportunities in today’s classroom and society
- An emphasis on learning from each other and sharing individual research questions and discoveries
- An international attitude that is attentive to diverse cultural contexts
- Building up a creative relationship to language, nurturing oral and written self-expression, leading to increased self-confidence
- Engaging in a process of making the substance of eurythmy your own and developing a professional attitude

Applicants must have two years of relevant educational practice, in addition to one of the following requirements:
Eurythmy diploma (recognized by the SRMK, Switzerland), Teacher or kindergarten qualification, Waldorf education subject or art teacher qualification of at least two years duration, Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in education.
If you are unsure whether your first degree qualifies you for admission, please ask at the Secretary’s Office.
Students should be able to master the English language at an appropriate level.

Required documents Master in English:
IMPORTANT: All notarized/ certified copies of certificates must be sent via email as well as by post to Alanus Hochschule, Keyword: Application Master Eurythmy, Villestr. 3, 53347 Alfter.
- Either certificate of 1st professional university degree (e.g. B.A.)
- Or certificate (diploma) of 4-year eurythmy training recognised by the SRMK, Dornach, Switzerland plus practical experience (at least 2 years) documented by a list plus (non-authenticated) proof of training, further training, work references etc.
- Or certificate of other relevant training of at least 3 years (usually in eurythmy) plus practical experience (at least 2 years) supported by a list plus (non-certified) evidence of training, further training, references, etc.
(Please provide a notarized translation of certificates/diplomas in foreign languages, i.e., not in English or German)
→ You can obtain certified copies by taking a copy and the original document to a justice of the peace, the mayor’s office, certain medical professionals or our service bureau for students at Alanus and get it certified for a small fee.
- Letter of motivation (outlining your professional development focus and purpose, approx. a DIN A4-page)
- a curriculum vitae with portrait picture
- Passport photo for the student card
- Proof of health insurance covering the entirety of your studies (e.g. a scan of the front and back of your health care card)
- For all study programs (completed or without a degree) official proof of removal from the register of students, for all programs without degree a certificate of non-objection by former university
- For the specialization in Eurythmy Therapy: a medical certificate of good health
→ You can obtain this certificate from your local doctor’s office
- Also required: Completion of the categories 'Become aware through' and 'Statutory declarations' on the website.
- Students should be able to master English at an appropriate level. Alanus may demand documentation.

Continued formations and further developments

For those who do not want to obtain an academic degree, it is possible to work on aptitude, in certain productions and projects. This is an offer for eurythmists who are looking for an artistic work combined with performance work and can be certified as a university certificate. The beginning is in the autumn semester.
In addition, the study course Stage of the Master's Program can be combined with one of the following certificate courses: Eurythmy Pedagogy, Eurythmy in Social Work Fields or Vitaleurythmie, additional fees will be charged.
- Symposia
Every year, symposia take place on various topics of eurythmy. Here you can meet colleagues and learn about research and practice in the occupational fields.
